Vibration analysis of a permanent magnet synchronous motor by a pole/slot combination

A sixteen-pole eighteen-slot (16p/18s) permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) developed in Korea Electrotechnology Research Institute (KERI) for a vertical articulated robot is chosen as reference model, and other two pole/slot combinations (20p/18s, 20p/24s) are together compared terms of electrical mechanical performance. Radial force density varying time space decomposed through Fast Fourier Transform (FFT), vibration calculated from the harmonics radial force. The 20p/24s best due to its mode 4 among three combinations. Additionally, variation with respect torque between 16p/18s 20p/18s. Despite same number slots both motors, slope 20p/18s greater than that different poles. As result, worse 16p/18s.
